Mike Haskins is in his “dream job” as the developer of New Vision’s Urban Missions.
A graduate of Hope International University, Mike draws from a rich pool of experience as a professional youth worker, pastor, organizational consultant, and former technical trainer with Apple. The broad spectrum of professional and volunteer experience he has accumulated in 25+ years working with children and youth includes conventional youth ministry, residential treatment, special education, foster parent to twenty-seven children, camps, and non-profit youth programs. He currently sits on the board for the Copley-Price YMCA.
Mike uses an experiential learning approach to help others understand and take action on everything from sharing God’s message of hope to comprehending complex social issues like homelessness, urbanization, poverty, and systemic injustice. From his personal journey of recovery from pornographic addiction, Mike draws on a deep understanding of God’s grace, His freedom, and desire to turn our mess into miracles of healing and restoration. Ultimately, he is committed to see others succeed and discover God’s purpose and promises for their life.
One of Mike’s favorite things about New Vision is the environment that it provides for his family to live out their shared purpose. Amy Haskins, is a social worker (MSW) who writes home studies for adoptive families, works with the youth ministry and AWANAs, and mentors female interns for urban missions. Josiah, their enthusiastic 9-year old son, is an aspiring gymnast who thrives as one who encourages, memorizes of God’s Word, and enjoying time spent with his family and friends. Both of them play roles that contribute to this family’s ministry in their home, community, church family, and groups from all over the country.
